Should America have more gun control?

@HoraceGreenley @MrBrownstone I'll do you both a favor that you'll hate. Truth is that even if you took out those cities, the murder per capita rate of the US would only drop about 0.3 per 100k. Leaving the US squarely were it stands. Just more than Chile, a little less than Estonia.

And for some reason you skipped the city with the highest murder rate, St. Louis Missouri. In fact, Chicago and DC would have to double their murder rates to keep up with St. Louis, and New Orleans and Detroit would have to increase 50%.

Wonder why whoever made this up neither did the math, nor included the city with the actual highest murder rate. It's almost as if it's completely made up. XD

@MrBrownstone I don't know about that. Most other develop countries have even stricter laws on guns, and lower murder rates. I think what it shows is that gun laws in America don't work, and there's pretty much nothing we can realistically do to stop these shootings. There will be more Dylan Roofs, James Holmes, Columbines, Omar Mateens, Chris Mercers, Adam Lanzas, and Stephan Paddocks, because we can't stop it. So the next time someone wants to rain bullets down on innocent crowds, people will die, end of story. That's our country.

@MasterLee yes, but it has provided quite well for jesse jackass and al sharpless. While THEY get invited to all the "right" parties in exchange for doing the democrat's dirty work, most of the rest of their people are suffering.

@Gauntlets28 well, that might be a slight exaggeration but it's easy to get a gun if you're a criminal. How do you think the blacks who are killing other blacks in Chicago get their guns. They don't buy them at the local gun shop. And because they are black, the left will not even discuss that. They are willing to sit back and watch hundreds, adding up to thousands, of black lives lost because they can't get past the fact that the killers are black. They don't want them incarcerated, it might be racist.

@katielass Frankly, it's not just black people, but it is largely the working class because poverty tends to breed crime. Really that's the reason why places like Switzerland don't have that level of gun crime despite everyone being armed. They're all quite wealthy and very satisfied with life.
Short term solution would be greater gun control and firearm amnesties, because there's too many people in the USA with too many guns for them to possibly be able to keep track of that makes it incredibly easy to obtain guns by theft and smuggling.
Long term, you need to sort out your poverty issue.

@Gauntlets28 Yes, poverty does tend to breed crime and it's probably true that there is some white on white killings but it is nowhere near as prevalent as it is in some black communities. I'm talking about places like Chicago. when you have a couple thousand black kids being killed year after year I think it's time someone did something. I have written extensively on this site about how the blacks came to be in that position. I am old enough to remember when the black family was pretty much intact. There have always been some black, and white, fathers who didn't hang around. But LBJ , racist pig that he was, changed the welfare rules and said if there's a man living in the house, no welfare. Well, if you can't make ends meet with hubby's income and welfare pays better what are you going to do, make daddy move out. and at that time welfare did pay better, you got more money for each additional kid, so that caused a lot of poor black women to have lots of kids so she could get more money. This was by design though, it was not an unintended consequence.

@srxwat4 Don't make yourself look stupid. No one, I repeat, no one WANTS mass shootings. It isn't a choice between mass shootings or no guns allowed. The left has been blathering how they want "reasonable" or "common sense" gun laws for years but guess what, the only solution they have ever come up with either violates our second amendment right or doesn't work. They wanted background checks. They got them. And guess what, in the past 6 years 3 mass shootings, including this one, the shooter passed the background checks. If you don't have a record of being a nut job it isn't going to come up on a background check. Now 2 of those shooters passed the background checks because the FBI employee was incompetent. And the damned dumbocrats keep rambling about gun show loopholes, which is really person A selling a firearm to Person B. Ok, pass a law that makes it illegal to sell a gun to your neighbor or friend. Yes, that's really going to stop nut jobs from committing mass murder. All that's going to do is make it more difficult for the law abiding citizen to buy and sell their firearms. It wont have any effect on the killers. Surely person A will not sell Person B one of his guns if he's foaming the mouth, talking to himself, not making sense or expresses weird murderous thoughts. Why don't we just make murder illegal? Oh yeah, already did that.
