I will go to my aunt's funeral. I plan to wear black shorts which are not too short, just above the knees. My mom says it is inappropriate to wear shorts at a funeral. What do you think?

The funeral was today, I wore my dark gray skirt, it goes just above my knees, my mother also agreed that it was nice and appropriate.
I saw 2 girls in shorts, one had bermuda style abive the knee but the other had short shorts leaving her thighs naked.
