I will go to my aunt's funeral. I plan to wear black shorts which are not too short, just above the knees. My mom says it is inappropriate to wear shorts at a funeral. What do you think?

Whether appropriate or not, please respect your mother's wishes. As someone said, she is upset enough, and needs no further stress or conflict. It would be the most mature and gracious thing to do.
