I Am American (southern)

im watching an episode of switched at birth where the black students at a college due to racism. they have some reaonable demands and some kinda crazy but one that sticks out in my mind. is demanding a building being renamed cause it was named for a slave owner. its crazy if we renamed every building or place named for slave owners or had a slave owners name on it. we would be renaming several monuments, colleges including a black college, airports, hospitals etc.

@luckylidia: no i'm pointing out that you act like only blacks got mistreated and only feelings matter. and yes while my ancestor was away fighting in the confederate army with 2 of his brothers neither of which made it home. sherman's troops burned down my ancestors home and killed his only brother who wasnt old enough to be in the army a boy of 12. and im part cherokee on my dads side and you dont see us whiining about places named for andrew jackson who signed the order to send our ancestors on a death march do you?

@Mountainlady16: You're whining. That's all you're doing. I'm sure you know the boy that was killed really well. Remember, he burned down my family's home too. THEY DESERVED IT. THEY WERE REBELS. THEY WERE SLAVERS. THEY RAPED WOMEN FOR SPORT. THEY KEPT BREEDING FARMS. REBELS. TRAITORS. My family was too. Yes you're whining. That's all the white pride movement and the alt-right does now. You're scared big bad black people will take over. Why did we need troops to be there when the Jefferson Davis statue came down? Go back to the swamps and go live in your family's burned down house. If you can't move on like the rest of us did, don't slow the rest of us down.

@luckylidia: really you can tell you had a liberal yankee history education. and you still arguing for blacks and ignore how native americans HAD IT A HELL ALOT WORSE. and you know what my family does still own least part of the old place. do you realize that freed blacks in the north were often treated worse than slaves in the south?

@Mountainlady16: Liberal Yankee Education? HAHAHAHAHA in backwoods Texas? How is it living in Klan world? Is it nice and comfortable? You just keep on drinking the Kool-Aid and telling yourself that slavery was great for the slaves, that they wanted it. You keep revelling in you antebellum filth because one day really soon, you're going to realize that German-Americans like you and I are the minority in this country. And maybe having a black president isn't such a big deal. And if you don't like it, you can go back to Nazi Germany where you and your white pride dingbats belong. Sieg Heil, Douchebag.

@luckylidia: im mix of a few things not just german American. im not a white pride person im just not one to ignore history. and you act like only blacks feelings matters not native americans or any other race that the us government mistreated. no slavery wasnt great but blacks in the north faced homelessness, violence, starvation and many other things. here i have a book for you to read American Adventure #19 riot in the night. that will give you a view of what life for freed blacks was like. and i had no problem with the fact obama was black my issue was he was a muslim loving, proabort, progay, antichristian idiot who destroyed our country. he divided the country even more. and oh lets not forget stood up on national tv one morning and offended the entire south
