we went to a raptor center in Alaska, they had a lot of them in recovery there. They are gorgeous animals.

Right on. You got lucky. There's a nest about a mile from my house in the forest and I hadn't seen one until a couple of weeks ago. Flew right over my head with a fish in its talons. Majestic and powerful. Hope it decides your tree is THE tree and comes back.
