I Am An Empath

After spending the week with my soul-sisters, listening to them. Their heartbreaking events and conditions of their daily lives, my own soul weeps.
I feel them .. like it's my own sorrow.
As helpless as they are.
Is this just compassion? I wish.
I am trying to balance myself now.
I need my solitude to gather my energy.
I must detach. Till I can think clearly.
I feel selfish for doing so too!

You are not selfish. You have to put some distance when you are an empath. It is necessary for your heart and for your brain. Do this and be well, Echoing. Do not let the sorrow sink you. Rise above it. And prosper.

I never did understand the term, or how they feel.

But it must be draining. And you're not of much use when you're drained.

So. Take the time to recoup. And try not to feel bad about it. Cause you need to. You're human.

@Novaturient81 How nice of you. Thanks! I love your honesty! Some say being an Empath is a blessing, I agree at times. I feel at this moment, it's a curse. Heck, trying to absorb my own feelings is hard enough. To take on another's emotions... whoa!

Makes me wonder if that works on other things, do you feel joy as much. Or what about strange feelings from people who are weird like has a fetish. It does not seem like you could feel everything but I would not know.

@Subsumedpat Of course I feel joy and other emotions from others too. I can pick up on BS quickly as well. For fetishes... lol... they are normally a very private thing that is only released to someone of their own choosing. I am an empath not a mind reader. What a person portrays and how they truly feel .. sometimes are not the same. We all wear masks at some point. I see beyond the masks.
