Have any of you ever experienced a squirrel try to get your attention by making noises?

Yes. They also used to come and sit on my balcony when I would play guitar.
I had 6 of them sitting in a semi circle in front of my screen door.

What makes this unusual is that I don't actually know how to play the guitar, but just pick out tunes all on a single string.

I had a dog that would chase them up trees. If she hadn't been out for a while they would hang on my screen and bark. The dog would fly out the door and chase them up the tree and they would throw nuts on her head.

I've heard squirrels many times, but I don't know if they were alerting other squirrels, fussing at me, or singing squirrel songs.

I thought it was trying to make me go away, throwing pine cones and everything.

Haha yeah it chased me
