Can anyone tell me what to do?

I found a wild box turtle in my yard. I contacted wildlife rehabs. But No one has contacted me back. So I've been trying my best to take care of her myself.

I found it 8 says ago. It had eye problems both of its eyes wouldn't open. So I've been treating that with eyedrops and feeding foods with vitamin a and soaks. Her eyes have been improving a lot. Her left eye is open now and the right is starting to have less swelling and it's starting to open.

But now it seems like she has a problem breathing because she has been opening her mouth more than usual.

I know it's bad to say but I don't be able to take her to the vet.

She seems pretty active when I take her outside. So that's a good sign.

Is there any way she can survive on her own and heal herself with her breathing problem?
She needs water to submerge in and you need to be sure that she has the right food. you can look it up on the internet easy enough. I am impressed with how you helped her eyes. An open mouth may mean something else but breathing is a good guess. I would do some research and make sure she's getting the right food and enough of it and turtles, unlike tortoises, need water to submerge in. If provided the right food and environment she should heal just fine depending on what damaged her eyes. I'm guessing she got lost and couldn't find her pond and became dehydrated.

The breathing problem could be an allergic reaction to the eye drops (most human medication is toxic to animals). Call a zoo ( any zoo) and ask for their vet. Tell them your situation and they should be able to help

@Iamnotacat (wasn’t specified and you can’t assume on the internet)

Have googled it? Box turtle breathing problems

@xixgun I did it mostly said antibiotics. I got in contact with someone and she's looking for someone to come and pick it up.
keep trying the rescue folks. turtles can get respiratory problems,, and fungal infections.
keep her warm, not hot. she likes many leafy things.
will you say what state you are in? that can be helpful

I had a baby possum in my back yard, the mother wasn't too far away dead. I called animal control. They came over and drove it to the wildlife hospital which is a distance from here.
Is there a nearby zoo or a sizeable college with a good biology department? They might be able to help you.

google more places that will care for her in your area ...not just one.

Maybe try an animal rehab place, we have one in my county and they take in all sorts of animals including skunks.

@Iamnotacat Students only supposed to have fish, nothing else. Suspect that there were room inspections that day and the student got word of it and threw it away.

@Iamnotacat Students like to sneak pets into their dorms that they aren’t allowed to have to be cool. Just like they like they love to steal street and other signs and public things like posters & cardboard cut-outs used in stores for ads as a decoration to show how cool they are to have something different in their room (they dump those at the end of the school year) And some of the students are mean and self-centered not to care about animals.

Bless u for at least trying.
Why does my turtle keep opening its mouth?
The opening the mouth is a sign of a respiratory infection. This can be very serious if not addressed by a Herp Vet. You also should have a basking light over the tank beside the UVB. This helps the turtle to add warmth.
No idea. But good for you for taking care of it. Try the local conservationist office.
