Can anyone tell me what to do?

I found a wild box turtle in my yard. I contacted wildlife rehabs. But No one has contacted me back. So I've been trying my best to take care of her myself.

I found it 8 says ago. It had eye problems both of its eyes wouldn't open. So I've been treating that with eyedrops and feeding foods with vitamin a and soaks. Her eyes have been improving a lot. Her left eye is open now and the right is starting to have less swelling and it's starting to open.

But now it seems like she has a problem breathing because she has been opening her mouth more than usual.

I know it's bad to say but I don't be able to take her to the vet.

She seems pretty active when I take her outside. So that's a good sign.

Is there any way she can survive on her own and heal herself with her breathing problem?

Maybe try an animal rehab place, we have one in my county and they take in all sorts of animals including skunks.

@Iamnotacat One time at the university in a 12-story tower the custodian found a small aquarium thrown down the trash chute, it had a live box turtle in it. Some cuts on the shell but the poor turtle was still alive. Student could have been charged with a crime if they’d known who did it.

@cherokeepatti oh wow. Why would someone do that?

@Iamnotacat Students only supposed to have fish, nothing else. Suspect that there were room inspections that day and the student got word of it and threw it away.

@Iamnotacat Students like to sneak pets into their dorms that they aren’t allowed to have to be cool. Just like they like they love to steal street and other signs and public things like posters & cardboard cut-outs used in stores for ads as a decoration to show how cool they are to have something different in their room (they dump those at the end of the school year) And some of the students are mean and self-centered not to care about animals.
