I Like Nietzsche

"The times of corruption are those when the apples fall from the tree: i mean the individuals, for they carry the seeds of the future and are the authors of the spiritual colonization and origin of new states and communities. Corruption is merely a nasty word for the autumn of a people" ~ some "Joyful Wisdom" from page 98 :)

I think he understood prose better than the meaning of corruption. Corruption is about inefficiency. And his understanding of recurrence was really weak too.

He was a great writer, and his insights were that of a youthful deep thinker.

@DreamTinker: Yes. I fear that he did more harm to the idea of recurrence than good, though. His ideas are still being studied and repeated by rote instead of corrected ones. I'm an unabashed expert on this topic.

@LucyRocks: The eternal recurrence? I think what he did there was simply develop a doctrine for those who experience the death of god as a thing of major consequence. ..... Have you read some of the secondary literature such as Klossowski's The Viscous Circle?

@DreamTinker: I haven't read that, no. Proper foundations for eternal recurrence weren't really laid until the mid 20th century. Well, Schopenhauer had some clue.

@LucyRocks: News to me! *_*

@DreamTinker: Modern consensus has settled on what's called 'balanced recurrence'. Here, half of our id is eternally repeated and the other half is eternally innovated. Sorry, I'm off-topic.

@LucyRocks: Modern consensus .... hmmmm and that makes something true?
LoveChild · 26-30, F
@DreamTinker: Of course not. Only critical thinking might establish absolute truth.

@LucyRocks: I prefer the Kierkegaardian phraseology - Subjectivity is truth. Thanks for the chit chat :)

@DreamTinker: Subjectivity is a formula for inconclusiveness. -LucyRocks

@LucyRocks: Maybe the hollow version of it.
LoveChild · 26-30, F
@DreamTinker: Not really. It's a question of one reality versus infinite realities. Absolute truth is only solvable if we properly interpret individual realities and preferences as personal experience. This is a philosophical stumbling block for the novice.

@LucyRocks: Its also a way to start sounding like a machine:)
