I was diagnosed with this as a child and medicated for it when I was too young and naive to say no. As with most demons in the mental health bestiary, the diagnostic process is alarmingly pseudoscientific despite there actually being some readily apparent options for more precise physiological screening in this case — but even leaving that aside, the whole thing is at least as much a damning indictment of the inability of most humans to actually say or do anything all that worthy of attention as it is a "disorder".
