I Lost Someone To Suicide

Not exactly a personal loss but I knew them. Nice family, three kids, with the older one being a high school senior. It was their son, he had turned 18, active in his school with sports and other activities and was a good student.

He became distraught over his girlfriend breaking up with him, so after his parents left for work, and his siblings went to school, he stayed back. He locked the doors, took a seat in a chair and put a pistol in his mouth.

It was a gruesome scene when his family came home and found what was left of him. The blood splatter and brain matter was scattered over the room

The family changed that day, I assume never to be the same again. The happy faces that once held smiles are a little sadder now. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

It absolutely boggles my mind how this has become a viable solution nowadays. We hardly ever heard of such a thing when I was growing up and certainly not over something like this. It breaks my heart for him and his family.

[@23104,JustNik] You are right, we never heard much of this when I was growing up and now it is everywhere. I don't know what the answer is. Maybe technology has made the information more readily available. Maybe it happened but we just didn't hear about it, or maybe it is in fact more prevalent now, but why. I don't know why.

That is really a tragedy. That poor family.

[@64306,SmartKat] They were poor people living on a small farm in the Oklahoma panhandle near a very small town called Adams. They still live in the house, can't afford to move.

[@1319,lasergraph] Their lives will never be the same again.
