How far back can you trace your ancestors?

GlassDog · 41-45, M
In an unbroken line, back to about 1670. With a few gaps, back to the 11th century. And, making a bit of an assumption, back to Neolithic times (my surname is the same name as a Neolithic settlement that a lot of my family lived around and still live around).
@GlassDog: oh yes I am fine. I dont know but the user name became old and tired. And of course the stereotype of being southern is always there. I am proud of my roots and I dont mind fighting for my culture you know? I guess that needed a rest:-)

@Starshine: Ahh, I always liked seeing your old username. It was comforting somehow. I'll get used to the new one, but you'll still be SBelle in my head for a while. :)
@GlassDog: that is fine:-) Another person told me that as well, I am still the same old me😃

It is pretty cool! I learnt that my family changed our last name 5-6 times since then. @Dreammmer:

@Nunos50: Amazing!
I have tried but it kind of stops at grandparents, records were poorly kept or no records at all. It makes me sad because I want to know them
Dreammmer · 56-60, M
@Starshine: Dont give up finding out. You can still find out a lot, ask, ask, ask... good luck
@Dreammmer: thank you and yes I will keep looking :-)

Apparently my surname is Saxon. I'd love to trace the whole thing back.
Dreammmer · 56-60, M
@glitterinyourface: I live in Niedersachsen, so someone must have come from the people who live here or used to live here.
WillBGood · 61-69, M
I had a go a few years ago, and managed to get a couple of branches into the late 1700s.
saintsong · 41-45, F
My aunt traced back our ancestors back to the 1600's.
