How far back can you trace your ancestors?

In an unbroken line, back to about 1670. With a few gaps, back to the 11th century. And, making a bit of an assumption, back to Neolithic times (my surname is the same name as a Neolithic settlement that a lot of my family lived around and still live around).

My grandpa went all the way back to the 1100's

Not very far at all ever since I found out my dad isn't actually my real dad.

Got back to about 1810 still in same parish lol

I have tried but it kind of stops at grandparents, records were poorly kept or no records at all. It makes me sad because I want to know them

so far I have gone back to my great, great, great grand parents and know that my family name first appeared in 1197bc

i can't since i was adopted and the adoption agency is too busy protecting their own @sses

Apparently my surname is Saxon. I'd love to trace the whole thing back.

I had a go a few years ago, and managed to get a couple of branches into the late 1700s.

My aunt traced back our ancestors back to the 1600's.
