don't feel stupid. you're an adult now, your decisions are your own. even if you mother thinks those decisions are a mistake, they're YOURS to make. it's not disrespectful to her to express that you're enjoying what you're doing, you should do what makes you happy. and if anything, i think you should be seeing your counselor to discuss things like this, because i know you're feeling conflicted. maybe you can even set up a meeting with your counselor and your mom so your counselor can act as an intermediary to help you talk it out. it's hard to find your footing on your own when you've spent your whole life up to that point under the authority of your parents, and sometimes it's hard not to feel guilty when they disagree with how you're living your life. i hope you two can come to an understanding.

Do what makes you happy you might be her daughter but she doesn't control your life. Having a counsellor or someone to talk to besides a family member about problems is a healthy way to deal with the issue.
