I Am A Fireman

Someone Lost Their Life Today!

Alarms screaming.
Birds singing.
But his heart was bleeding.
I held him as he died.
CPR couldn't revive.
How could I save what God wanted taken
away.
Is this how God repays ?
Maybe if I was a minute earlier.
If I didn't take that extra time getting out
the drive.
I would of been able to save this young mans
life.
It haunts me each night.
Pictures of him in the last moments of his
life.
I was pulled away by my fellow brothers in
arms.
Brothers with Fire Fighter emblems on
there helms.
Tears roll down my face.
You did your best is what they all seem to say.
My mind screams back to them,
this was someones son, boyfriend, brother
How could I let this happen.
I look in the mirror when all these questions
race in my brain.
mocking me, judging me, pointing, laughing,
calling me names.

Someone Lost Their Life Today!
And part of me died as well.

Hey, remain strong and serve your duty proudly knowing that it isn't about the number of lives that slipped away that is to be remembered. Every risk you take to protect and fight for our lives is what we know you for. All the worth of your struggle comes from the happiness and pleasure you can reap from a hopeless, dead situation. We need you :)
And we forgive as far as you can go because that's why we call for help

So please, don't blame yourself for what was meant to go. Let them return to more loving hands while you continue to fight to bring light when the hour is dark for others

I’m so sorry. I see people like you as angels of mercy. Sometimes... it’s just their time. Thank you so much for your selfless efforts. They weren’t alone and they weren’t afraid.

@Livingwell thank you for the kind words, on behalf of my fellow brethren and myself.

I feel you because I've been there. It's never easy to lose, particularly when you have done your best. A wise religious person once told me that you may be part of God's plan. I never believed him until I overheard a family member tell others that, "The paramedics did all they could". Then I understood.

@SageWanderer my logic says one thing and my emotions say another...but thank you

It’s painful and that stays with you. I’ve held a few 😢. We don’t serve others just for the good, we serve unconditionally. Stay strong.
