I Am A Fireman

While I will never trade one day, one minute of my experience as a firefighter, there are times when my job makes my heart ache.
Last night as I entered a house, I could hear screaming upstairs. Running to the second floor I entered a room engulfed in flames and found a beautiful little girl, maybe 9 or 10 years old hiding in the corner. As I picked her up and wrapped her in my coat I could see that her little legs had been burned badly, and her cries as I carried her back down the steps and outside,.. well..the are still ringing in my ears this morning.
People say seconds dont matter, tell that to this little girl.
...
Wishing I could have been just a few seconds faster. Thank you SW for allowing me to vent.

First responders see things the general public can’t begin to imagine. Running to what everyone else is running from is heroic. Thank you for your service.
