I'm basically the same although I have been trying to change. The problem, of course, is I don't know how to really deal with emotions (because I never learned and have not practiced like most people), so I express these emotions which are then either taken the wrong way or ignored.
Instead of feeling like a pathetic loser though, I need to just move on and ahead. There is nothing to gain, it seems, to over-analyze why people react the way they do or whether or not I should have expressed what I am feeling. In the longer term, it's better than keeping everything so bottled up. But, it does make me feel very vulnerable most of the time. And, that influences my mood.

this time of year can be very difficult for those not in an ideal situation with family or a partner. I've been there, it can really suck. Hope your situation improves soon.
