I'd Rather Have the Truth, No Matter How Hard

In a world of many different species, the one species who through intelligence gained control, gets to have their subjective preferences become objective measures of morality.
In favor of the survival of our own species.
Morality is based on how we treat our fellow man, not the plants and animals we use to fuel our stay.
Enter the world of man.
Where it is the desire of one person versus that of the other.
Either an agreement or compromise is made or there is battle.
All over different... desires.
Wants that drive our existence.
The desire to live or the desire to act altruistic for the rest to continue to survive.
Once people split over different desires, different ways, each label each other in derogatory form.
Countless words that say with you something is wrong.
The greatest pain comes from those who you believe are on your side, but behind your back laugh, mock, and scorn without you even knowing.
Then trust becomes a thing of the past.
Brings pity and empathy to think, mankind is here not by choice but from those two individuals who made them deal with the consequence of their action.
Brings pity and empathy to think from birth we are forced to adapt through reward or punishment to know how to survive where we are found pleasing, productive, and harmless to most.
Brings pity and empathy to think we spend our lives hiding behind masks in order for others to impress.
Yet behind those masks we are one and the same.
Beings who chose not our body, mind, instincts, the world, or what it contains but who hope to leave their mark by creating something new from what is already here: words, raw materials to create art, and further the species to thrive in the most pleasing of ways as we advance in our technologies.
Beings who underneath it all are afraid of ridicule, abandonment, unbearable pain, and ultimately death.
Who desire our egos to be elevated to a level where we feel relevant, wanted, sane, and correct.
May we use kinder words towards each other once we realize we are one and the same.
Each after our desires that bring fulfillment.
Each trapped in a world and body we didn’t choose in the first place, but adapted to in the midst of all the questions and the people yelling and pointing fingers when we are not just as they want.
As youngsters we cried when reprimanded, as adults we continue to do the same to the young, so the circle of life continues as long as we are allowed by a reality in many ways outside of our grasp, a dream that seems surreal, and that we fight with others claiming we have the truth others don’t understand.
As I am doing now.
Life.
