Ohhhhh Lord!!!

Now they arrest you in Scotland for even using mean words? I get it that what he said was inappropriate and hurtful, but really...they have made it a crime to say such things?

I've had mean things said to me throughout my life, and I'm sure most people have heard mean words directed at them, but it wasn't criminal or an offense that got you arrested.

Wo! This is damn scary!

Not a criminal offense. A moral one, yes. People should not express thier ignorance and hatred in such ways!
FORMERLYbatovn · 56-60, M
We as a human race have gotten so worked up that nobody should EVER be offended and that kids need a completely sterile environment and that we must idiot proof every area of life. The only people that truly believe that drivel ARE the idiots. We are currently raising a couple generations of the mentally weakest, laziest, most entitled, irresponsible and ungrateful kids in the history of mankind. People dont even know what they speak about anymore, there is no thirst for knowledge or history, or what is best for anyone other them themselves. get prepared folks........this is gonna get worse and its gonna have a very negative effect on ALL of us!!!

He's entitled to his opinion but if he is serving the public he needs to respect the public while he is working.
IamDave · 61-69, M
Sure he is, Patti. But he needs to keep it to himself while on the job, as you indicate.

@Rex, it may surprise you to know that I don't have a horse in this race. I have no agenda. You are accusing me of manipulation. I have no idea what I'm supposed to be manipulating.

Here is where I am coming from: I was born and raised in the UK. Never, did I hear of any arrests, in almost 37-years of my life there, for saying mean things. Now you say he barred them from the bus, but if you read the story, it says they were sitting on the bus while he verbally abused them. Of course he was out of line. He should not be doing that job. Even if they weren't gay, he should be fired for being abusive. But...a crime? No.

The U.K. has just about criminalized sneezing in public, or will do at this rate.

This post is my opinion and feelings about what has become of my motherland since I left. Freedom of speech has been eroded. The thought police are everywhere it seems.
FORMERLYbatovn · 56-60, M
arresting him wont help or address the problem.......a better solution would be a suspension without pay and to discipline him and make him understand that he has a PUBLIC service job......hence he is to quietly serve teh public without his biases being an issue........if he cant(or anyone else cant either) then he should be promptly terminated
He tried to kick them off the bus for being gay! Yes, he should of got arrested.

They're trying to do that in the U.S. if you deny that climate change exists. A lot of scientists that are receiving government grants to prove climate change agree that Americans should be jailed for disagreeing with their viewpoints. Seems like there was a time just a few centuries ago that scientists said the earth was flat and that the Sun orbited around the earth.

I agree with you BATOVN, fire him from his job because he is representing the bus company, and you don't insult any customer like that, for any reason. He was definitely out of line.

At A7, do you live in Britain? I think British people of today have been brainwashed into extreme political correctness. I saw the start of it in the late 1980s/1990 just before I left the country to live in the US.

I know they now have laws where you can't even argue with someone in public. It wasn't like that when I lived there. It's changed so much. When I go back for a visit, I feel like I'm in a foreign country.

I do understand that if you are brought up with rules in a culture, then that is your paradigm of the world. You become as much a product of society as anyone else, even if it's the same country at different times.

We are so "politically correct" these days and it could really get us into serious trouble, when we stop speaking the truth for fear of offending those who actually are causing a great deal of trouble and using "political correctness" as a manipulative tool.
Sueisright · 31-35, F
Funniest about that is the climates always changing throughout history. I guess your meaning the so called man made change they try tell us and then tax us for such. Just keeps me wondering how are they gonna fix the holes ?maybe they are gonna get all the rip off tax and sew all the notes together and fill the hole. Or more likely put the cash in there pockets and get very rich from it.
We've had ice ages and numerous other changes in the past millions of years ,it is the human races arrogance to believe they have caused such a change. I doubt it very much personally. I believe it's yet another natural change of the world so better put me In prison now
He got arrested for verbally abusing strangers for no reason. If you go up and start shouting horrible stuff at some random couple in the street you could get arrested too.
RandyPowers · 51-55, M
Because he didn't get arrested solely for speaking, he barred them from the bus. That's misleading and manipulative. Like I said, Well done!
@batovn true but this isn't one of those silly overreactions. The bus driver was a total homophobic psyco
Sueisright · 31-35, F
I just got told I need to have healing and such to cure me lol
What Rex said! Yes I live in the uk..Scotland actually and it's fine to argue in the street the same as anywhere it's just common sense. If you want to see political correctness brainwashing society I suggest you visit an American university or pretty much any media outlet.

RandyPowers · 51-55, M
You are misrepresenting the article to manipulate opinion. Well done!
Carissimi · 70-79, F
@A7, arresting people for verbal abuse smacks of "1984." It's extreme to make it a crime.
IamDave · 61-69, M
Really, Rex? In what way?
JakeShade · 61-69, M
I guess I dind't know it was that bad...
