I Am In Deep Thought Almost Constantly

No matter who you are, how much money you have, and how many people claim to love you there are some things that will remain regardless.

Since we were children we were presented with the fame and glam of Hollywood, and many of us dreamed of becoming movie-stars. When did this “dream” come to our minds though? Probably after 10 or so years old and the obsession with validation came in. What were we doing and thinking before this obsession came about? We were spending time with family, going to school, trying to learn about the world that seemed like such a mystery we needed to discover.

It wasn’t until almost two months ago, that I was walking outside where I constantly see construction men building. Then out of nowhere at nearly 30 years old, I was like, “Well damn all my life I have been looking at the wrong people as my idols, look at these guys, they are creating literal art from a person who drew it, they do this in all weathers, and where would we be without these construction artists who have built all the roofs of the world? They are not only artists, but perfect artists, we don’t see a roof falling on our heads. Think of the high-rise buildings made of glass in downtown and think about the human beings involved in building those. Who are these people? Why are they not recognized for their skill and how do they continue to work hard, efficiently, even though their egos are never praised, they don’t make the money they deserve, and they don’t even complain at the hard job they do; yet I throw a fit if someone asks me to throw a napkin that fell on the floor in the trash if I didn’t throw that napkin there.”

Maybe construction workers should be officially called construction artists and given the credit they deserve. Maybe they should be considered yet another of our honorable heroes.

Moving on to the point I was going to make that affects us all.

You could be the most famous person, with millions of ‘likes’ on Facebook, with fans all over the world, and people who “love” you.

Regardless:

If you are in close proximity to a human being they will tell you what to do. Even if it is done subconsciously in expecting you to listen, nod your head, and say uh huh as they speak.” It annoys us, it does even though we hide behind facades to not admit it. We have to psych ourselves up to breathe and have self-control to have what they call patience to actually listen to others and not just be in our heads planning what toppings we want to put on our pizza when we get home, or the mail we haven’t yet received. People will then mention what they want. And then they will directly tell you what to do or give you a suggestion on what you “should” do... every time. Even if you are not asking for any advice and you are living the life of your dreams they will offer an unrequested suggestion. And don’t forget, if you shake your head in contradiction you’re in for it, contradicting desires equals goodbye so don’t take it personal when it happens. And last but not least, everyone talks shit (negative) behind everyone’s back unless it is a person who benefits you in a way you try to keep your mouth shut, but if they’re not around to gain the approval of the group you either nod along or stay quiet for again, validation reasons and acceptance, peer pressure. Since humans beings CAN’T ever be fully satisfied, this is a fact, we can’t help but talk shit or mock others to make people laugh and accept us, otherwise there is nothing to talk about unless you are a philosopher or business man. So again, don’t be surprised and don’t take it personally when you hear that your “best friend” was talking shit about you, humans talk shit as a duck quacks.

So if being famous and having all this validation doesn’t change these facts why are we obsessed with the attention we can get from people when we post on Facebook, when we wear tight clothing hoping to turn on the guys, when we wear nice clothes and make-up waiting for someone to call us “beautiful”. People get on our nerves. And actually the more famous you are, the more you have to deal with people, and people = beings who want you to do what they want and that talk shit when you’re not around. So why bother with this?

Value yourself, value your own efforts. Think of the construction artists, the farmers and harvesters of our food, those who work to give us clean water, think of all these people primarily. Then the firefighters, cops, and teachers we admire. Because after all where would we be without the roofs on our head, where would we be if none of us in this world knew how to build, to create art, to protect lives through the building of homes, offices, and buildings?

It’s funny how certain thoughts were on a roll and we believe them all the way through until we have a wake-up call and you’re like, “Woah, what world am I actually in?” But you know what? Now you know the value of YOUR time, your smile, your patience, and your effort, you realize how badly we need each other. We realized how validation is knitted in our DNA to the point we can’t live without the very humans that get on our nerves, so we adapt and learn to control ourselves. Not an easy feat but one that we can collectively strive towards.
