I Have Something I Just Have To Share

So I was reading my econ textbook, and it was talking about Repugnant market, and apparently, in the U.S, it's legal for a pregnant mother to give birth to a baby for another couple for pay. If they mean surrogates I'm all for it, and if a surrogate is the case why is U.S. one of the few countries that allow it?

Why does that elicit a 'wtf'? Some people need surrogates due to personal health issues. Unlike on tv, not everyone has a family or friend willing to volunteer that for free.

@ViciDraco I know it could possibly imply surrogates but the way it was worded, it sounded like a mother who got pregnant bc of intercourse and didn't want to have a baby. Doesn't help that it under the repugnant markets. But then again I might be overthinking this, which our Econ teacher told us not to do.
