I Miss The Past
Bank robberies are so exciting. They have all this drama and potential for things to go smoothly or terribly wrong. So interesting...
Apparently, it's going to become just a thing of the past. Why? Because bank robbers are pathetic now in comparison to the illegal fiscal gains earned by hackers.
Since money is so often digital in form, they just steal during the transactions. They steal very small amounts (percentage-wise), but because of the volume and size of transactions, these percentages accrue very rapidly into large volumes of cash.
They also aren't taking anywhere CLOSE to the risks being taken by people in real life robberies. I even read that some hackers are able to steal money from USA banks, while they never have even travelled to the USA!!!
Talk about sneaky!
But, it just doesn't have any of the excitement or intrigue from the "old days." A bank robber was a REBEL!!! A hacker is just some guy in dirty clothes that presses buttons. One person brings to mind a fit guy, with a hood over his face, and a semi-automatic pistol in one hand, and an empty bag in the other. The alternate criminal brings to mind some overweight guy with a neck beard that has one of those video-game playing headsets on; but crooked, because he's discussing the finer points of cheez-doodles or what place to order pizza from with his cat.
