How to Keep Avocados from Turning Brown

Either cut the avocado in half and remove the pit, or pierce the entire avocado skin with a fork right into the fruit in several places, then microwave on low heat for 30 seconds.

I learned this watching a chef competing on Guy's Grocery Games. Using this method, there is no need to add lemon or lime juice to your recipes to prevent avocados from browning. The avocados turn a very bright, pretty green and stay that way.

You can also use this method to ripen avocados that aren't ready to use.

@HannahSky 30 seconds on low heat is not enough to cook it. But if you want to use lemon or lime juice...that's fine.
