I Like Heated Discussions Or Debates

Today at my grandmother’s house I had a conversation with my cousin, my Aunt W, and my sister. I have very radical political beliefs. Sometimes things I say are poorly worded and my beliefs tend to overwhelm people who don’t want to understand. In their defense, like I said, my word choice is not the best. I said a statement. After asking questions to clarify, my cousin agreed with the statement but she said I needed to reword if I wanted to express it openly. I agreed. Some members of my family are very closed minded. My other aunt walks in the room. My Aunt L. She thinks everyone should believe what she believes. She’ll have a conversation with you until she’s blue in the face about why her views are right. By the end of the conversation she feels like she’s converted you.

My Aunt L immediately started to attack me and shut down my belief and even called me stupid and immature for my views. I remained calm and didn’t say anything. My Aunt W, my cousin, and my sister all defended me saying Aunt L was wrong for attacking me. I was so happy sitting there listening. I didn’t think they would defend me, for one. I also didn’t expect my Aunt L’s response. She said she was done with the conversation and she didn’t want to hear anymore about it because she was right. She literally told us not to talk to her the rest of her trip. I’d never seen her react in that way but it was a beautiful moment. I feel so accomplished and I don’t know why.
