Nuh uh, you can't make me choose just one. Too many subgenres

For 'slow burn', The Shining,
For meta, Cabin In The Woods,
For disturbing, Funny Games,
For creepy, Phantasm,
For 'haunting', Poltergeist,
For slasher, Behind the mask: The rise of Leslie Vernon,
For cheesy, CHUD.
For just plain bad, Birdemic: Shock and Terror.
The Shining! Classic. Did you like the sequel Doctor Sleep? I know I will be burned alive for admitting this but I enjoyed it...and I was not expecting that I would. It’s nowhere as good as Kubrick but I still liked it. @SarahAndSamantha

@DukeOfEarle It's on my list of 'need to see'. I enjoyed the book, and judging from the trailer, I think I might enjoy it, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Kubrick's Shining was amazing. One of my all time favorites in any genre
The movie is going to surprise you. The first 1/2 hour I was like, “What the hell is this?” and then it dawned on me that it’s Stephen King’s book AND a sequel to Kubrick’s movie! It was pretty clever. Not a classic. But clever.@SarahAndSamantha

@DukeOfEarle I saw some of the visual callbacks to Kubrick's in the trailer. It's what intrigued me the most.
I wish they would have CGI “deep faked” those scenes. But the recreation of the hotel was excellent (the original Pinewoods studio set burned down). Overall I enjoyed the movie more than the book, which is a first for me when it comes to anything Stephen King on the big screen. @SarahAndSamantha

@DukeOfEarle I think Carrie was the only King adaptation I liked more than the book. Most movies can't compare to the imagery in my mind when I'm reading, so they're at a disadvantage. But Sissy Spacek played Carrie White so perfectly
“It” was the only movie that kinda came close for me...at least part 1 did. There were things they had to edit out for time constraints but that was amazing. I was extremely disappointed in the Dark Tower. I love Idris Elba but...wrong role.@SarahAndSamantha

@DukeOfEarle Let's be honest, time wasn't the ONLY reason they left out certain parts..lol

I enjoyed It very much. I'm even of the unpopular opinion that Skaarsgard was a better Pennywise than Curry. But, with It especially, they simply cannot make a movie creepier to me than my imagination...(clowns...shudder)

and yeah, dark tower was a let down
I agree on Skaarsgard. Curry was...kinda campy. I know he was constrained by television standards but meh. @SarahAndSamantha [image deleted]

@DukeOfEarle Skaarsgard was able to pull off that instant change from goofy friendly demeanor to creepy threat in a way that Curry either wasn't able to or wasn't allowed to. The tv standards and time it came out hurt matters too. I also preferred the new Pennywise design over the old one.

Love that image too lol
I also kept waiting for Curry to sing sweet transvestite from transexual Transylvania...😂He’s just never going to live that down. @SarahAndSamantha

@DukeOfEarle Nothing to live down, he ROCKED those fishnets! lol
