So now they want to take out awards that we see on tv?

Now they are saying that some awards are going to be on during the commercials because the show lasts too long...How about they take out the stupidly ridiculous skits that make me want to turn the channel? How about they have Billy Crystal write the funny skits for the Oscars since he is too old now to be host? How about the technical awards have their own prime time Oscars? Most of them we have to watch on the internet anyway?

[c=#7700B2]does anyone watch that crap still though? the ratings get lower and lower every year. It is all just a political popularity contest now [/c]
@PlumBerries well, i don't know if i would be any different. i would probably say something about helping the homeless. I

[c=#7700B2]I think people don't tune in to have others political views shoved down their throats though.. the ratings are showing that. [/c]
@PlumBerries plus, most people just watch the highlights on their phones...the way i watch SNL

Hollywood has lost it's pull.

Since the banking collapse in '08 there has been less investment in television and movies generally.
Add to that stagnant wages and rising prices means that fewer folk go to the movies these days.
Add to that the advances in streaming for the internet. If folk are likely to spend more time at home anyway.
Add to that the whole 'celebrity producer/rapist/' stuff.

People need a reason to get back out there and watch.
I agree with you especially on the technical awards as the techies are often really funny people and their acceptance speeches are full of witty nuggets that we ultimately miss out on and instead are forced to watch corporate nonsense during very long commercial breaks.

Ummm, I dont follow award ceremonies on tv, but I think it's been long standing that the smaller awards are often done off camera?

yes. it already happens. always been that way @SW-User
@SW-User but now they are adding to the awards that are not going to be aired

They can’t be that important then. Some award shows are several hours long and way past ppls bedtime anyway. @LILY61

Is this of any importance? Do anyone even watch tv anymore? And if that is the case, then why?
@MartinTheFirst i didn't watch tv thru my twenties, but i watch it every night now. There a few very good shows on and i am sort of a shut in so i need it
