I Love Unsolved Mysteries

Russian authorities are reopening the case on the Dyatlov Pass incident?! 😱 How intriguing! One of the most tragic and bizarre unsolved mysteries in human history that's been subject to countless theories surrounding what could have happened is finally being reopened after 60 years. The authorities have stated that they hope to dispel all theories surrounding this incident and find a definitive answer on what exactly unfolded. But only three theories are going to be considered in this investigation, each involving natural phenomena: a hurricane, a snow storm or an avalanche. 🙄 Even though none of these explain some of the findings such as the irradiated clothing on the hikers, why they cut the tent open to escape and why they suffered the traumatic injuries they had. I think it's safe to assume that this new investigation isn't going to provide anything conclusive and will only raise more questions rather than providing any answers. Smh. 😒

I was wondering why everybody was talking about the Dyatlov Pass incident. Anyway, kinda misleading, at least the official story is they considered 75 existing theories but were able to already rule out all but the three ones left: http://tass.com/society/1043155 Of course, believe who will, but at least the official story is that they HAVE considered and looked into all 75 existing theories.

I think the aerial bombardment testing sounds most plausible. It's also important to realize that "radiation" in general doesn't stick around, you can't measure it after the fact. But thorium mantles used in storm lanterns of the time are radioactive and will leave radioactive thorium on anyone handling them, and I believe this was always said to be the cause of the alleged radioactivity.

While the current Russian administration does have much to answer for, it's hard to see why they'd have good reason to cover up in this investigation. That whole "stressed that government agencies had nothing to do with that incident" does clash a bit to the ears though, so I'm going to add "engineered by the authorities" to the suspect causes because they can already tell it's absolutely out of question without even investigating ;)
