How do I comfort a teenage girl cramping immensely and aggravated?

She was diagnosed with dysmenorrhea 2 years ago. Normal over the counter painkillers are useless so I normally get monthly prescription drugs from the gyno. They help but usually takes a long time to provide relief. She has to miss school the first 3 days every month as she's unable to focus.

They have tested her for endometriosis and fibroids, all to no avail.

Sometimes, I feel so HELPLESS seeing my baby that way.
Ugh I feel her pain. Over the counters dont help me either and my parents always give me a few of their prescribed stash. Its ruined so many days for me, just like her I had to miss school and work.

I mean there isnt much other than a heating pad and pain meds you can do.

Ive heard eating a tablespoon of molasses a day helps relieve the pain. Look that up. Yet to try it myself. And chamomile tea. But really....its something that just needs waited out. Thats what ive found anyway.

@lulaluboo her aunt is the same way, she says nothing helped and it only went away after she had her first child. Someone at my job suggested birth control to help regulate her hormones but my daughter is reluctant to try it as her gyno told her a possible side effect would be weight gain
@JustA yes. I had a late abortion regretfully about 2 and a half years ago and they did actually lessen pain wise a whole lot. But this last 2 months theyre back. So there is truth to that! And birth control helped me but more with consistent timing than pain. For others it may be different. Birth control can have alot of negative sideffects so I chose mostly not to take it either but I was infertile.
I'm so sorry to hear that. One of the things my mom taught me was never to stay hungry during those days. We tend to feel nauseated and hence prefer starving, but that will only make her periods painful and give her cramps.

Touchwood, I never had period cramps... although my flow used to be v heavy the first 3 of 5 days.

I had that. The thing that helped was birth control pills. She may not need them for their given purpose but it sure did help me.I also had surgery as i did have endometriosis.

@JustA if she can't function may be an option.

My daughter suffers the same. Motrin occasionally works for her. She uses a heating pad or hot water bottle to help alleviate the pain. Sometimes a warm bath.

@Sunnykel76 She's scared of birth control because one of the side effect is weight gain

@JustA yes it def can, but to what degree I guess differs with people. My daughter didn't gain more than maybe a few lbs

At the health food store (or online) there is a a homeopath called "Sepia". They are tiny sugar pellets, you put two or three under your tongue and it is a miracle!
