I Have a Suggestion for Similar Worlds

I think it should be mandatory for people to say something about themselves when they register for the site. Maybe a minimum of words or characters. As it is, I have to peruse the person's groups to form some kind of judgment of whether or not I want to friend her or him.
[c=#BF0080]People are taking this site way too seriously. I could understand if it was a dating site where you really need to know about someone.. but for a anonymous site that's a bit much. Besides, the people who don't want to fill out their profile would just put something like this BBBBBBBBB or whatever.[/c]

People expect too much from everything... My work takes up much of my time and is about 99% male... I heard one of the women say that there should be a Facebook dating site just to meet people we work with..... So much wrong with that... People and their ridiculous expectations!
[c=#BF0080]I totally agree! People are never satisfied with anything.[/c]

I'm not sure that would really be an improvement as it could scare many people away who otherwise may have added a description after checking out the site and getting more comfortable.

Personally I don't mind empty profiles. I simply don't add them if there is nothing to follow.

it would probably be all lies anyway like most of the other stuff on here.

Why bother most would lie

People only write it present their best version of themselves. If you're good at reading people I suppose you can judge their flaws based on how they write a bio... It's interesting to try.

In my mind, it gauges to a degree how serious they are about being involved in SW. If it is too easy to sign up and only takes a few seconds, you get the most casual and non-committed people joining. Even if they have to make something up, it forces them to think a bit about their online persona.

Absolutely. I mean judgement no but it's nice to see if there is something that you can relate to. Helps to see if they sound like a bit or fake too

Going through a members groups is a real pain. On EP we could see what groups we had in common and start there instead of wading through a ton of groups.

or a questionnaire system to point out some averages? like how indoor or outdoor oriented a person is?
SW-User
There already is a questionnaire about their interests and they are forced to join at least 10 groups to give you some idea of their interests.

I'm thinking more of a bar graph thing that is readily available.

Hmmm. Instead of a questionnaire then, how about assigned weights to each group? Like outdoors/indoors, political left/right, and many others?

I do like when people have some kind of opening statement, either in the about me or in a story.

I hate finding blank profiles. So frustrating.
I think some people would be shy
Or they would join without knowing the atmosphere and write sh*z stories.(or be a jerk)

[c=#BF0080]Yes, you can do that. Go to profile and click 'About Me'.[/c]
