Did the US lose the Vietnam war?

I'm interested to see if there's a difference between how americans view this and how people from other countries view it so feel free to announce your nationality.

And none of this "it wasn't a war" bullshit. A rose by any other name and all that.

The last war the US "officially" won was WWII. There were surrenders by the opposing countries.
not achieving the goals you go to war for means loosing by any definition

I am American. We lost and acted like losers all the way through and especially at the end and then welshed on reparations and the whole era was disgraceful. No one ever got it, it seems. We invaded Vietnam, destroyed a million people and the entire environment and never acknowledged what we did and so the shame lives on....
And it never ever had anything to do with north and south and China and evening news politics. Nothing to do with bloody "Communism". If anyone wants to understand why just look at what the US is still trying to do everywhere else wherever it can ....and why. The reasons are the same.

Bet my life most foreigners would agree.
And I bet most SWeeps would disagree.

yes somewhat due to the communist power helping supplying weapons to the Vietnamese soldiers which they always do from China and Russia. I believe it was meant to be a distraction from the main communist leader to weaken American Machine Arsenals and it's troops. not only we fucked up in this War but we fucked up in the gulf war and the Iraq raw or middle east whatever. also Bush told a lie about the oil from the middle east, that didn't work but what about weapons of mass destruction? that plan didn't work either...

yeah I did explain a-lot excuse me.

No one wins war
@Recluse

Well in one sense, yes.

But in another sense, someone definitely wins.

North Vietnam was supported by Russia and China and other communist countries and South Vietnam was supported by the US. The war was between the north and the south. Now who prevailed and why?
