Why does breaks up take so long to get over?

This person just circles my mind 24/7.. and it's been a little under 2 weeks

It is mourning. It is mourning the loss of the relationship and even if you were happy/relieved to get out od it the process will take time. It is like a death and that takes at least a year, possibly longer.

@MasterDvdC Now that you mentioned it.. I never did grieve my brothers death, sure I cried when I heard it but I didn't mourn or anything.. I wonder why that is
