I Hate The Way This World Has Become

A professor talks about the way students reject to discuss certain scientific matters, like heritability of human intelligence, simply because they contradict their beliefs.

This folly will stop at same time, but meanwhile, with such a rampant self-censorship, can any credit be given to college studies?

Wow. What the article highlights is something of which we have recently become aware: politics and the need to believe a certain way is so ingrained in some college students they will deny long proven scientific truths.

It is difficult to teach those who have been brainwashed. They have become the new flat earth society, in denial of anything and everything that might contradict their internal programming.

And you are correct...they are invalidating their own educations. One wishes they might flunk if they refuse to learn.

I give it less than 10 years until degrees are entirely useless, except STEM fields and even those are being threatened.

Colleges are worthless and just propaganda disguised as education, with very few exceptions.

Some things are getting worse, but looking at the whole of human history, we get consistently better than we uses to be.

It all depends on your measure. Overall, the world is better than it ever has been. And humans will continue to grow.

We have problems. But those problems, we can solve.

@Tatsumi It is hard to find an objective measure of how good the world is now compared to past times, but the number of suicides and people taking meds is a sign that these times are far from being the peak in human history

@Cierzo I suppose it depends on your perspective. ^-^;
