I Love My Kids

Almost a month ago I wrote a story about how my daughter has a friend from school who's a vegetarian so my 10 year old suddenly decided to become one. On May 18th it'll be a whole month since she's eaten meat. Before she'll eat anything, she asks me, "does this meal contain meat?" Wow. I'm proud of her for sticking to this!!

At the age of 7, my daughter announced she was “vegetarian” except for chicken and McDonalds.... that didn’t last long. A couple of years later though and she did want to be vegetarian and stuck with it for a year or more and was again on and off before finally going for it at the age of 16. We have never made an issue of food or eating and went with whatever she decided at the time.

My daughter is now vegan and has been since she was 18 or so. Before that, she was vegetarian but discovered that she has a digestive problem that means she is seriously intolerant of lactose and some other animal proteins - veganism is the only way she can be sure not to get sick again.
