I Love Abandoned Places

This is the old train station where I live. A place and a building I love. Doors and windows are walled.The last train arrived here in 1973.
I always wonder how many meetings and goodbyes the building has known. How many people left the town not to come back, or how many came with the train and stayed.
I would love to see one day trains stopping there, but I know it will not happen.

So sad. I grew up in a small town, pop. 6000, and my mother told me in the late-1940s you could carry your suitcase a half block to the corner, get on a bus to the train station, go to St. Louis or Chicago, and fly anywhere in the world. All after a half a block's walk. The train station closed in the early-50s and is now a coffee shop. The train tracks are even gone. You can't even get a Greyhound bus there anymore.

Train track are gone here too. Population here is 15000, at least we keep buses to go to bigger towns, but the train has a special flavour.

@Cierzo: I loved taking trains when I was a kid. Near downtown, where the tracks used to be, there is now a McDonalds.

I would feel that way too! We have a depot here that's been turned into a restaurant. I'm glad it was repurposed and the look of it maintained. Food isn't that great but I like to go there just for the building. LOL

I would like that the building is repurposed too. It is not easy, though, as it is far from the city centre.

I love this pic. I love the thoughts you have. It is one of the many reasons why I find you so very special. ☺️ We wonder at these things you said, don't we?

And I love the photographer who took this pic ❤

I guess that is a metaphor for life. Everything will come to an end.

If you go there regularly, have you noticed how nature has reconquered the former station over the years?

The posture and sentiment is very special
Thanks dear for posting

I have always loved trains. They give a special feeling no other means of transport do.

@Cierzo: really lovely... and totally with you

My great grandfather worked as a signal man and the a station master over a hundred years ago
My grandfather was born in the house of a train station where his family lived...

@yeronlyman: 🙂
Station master was my dream work as kid. I wonder if they still exist now 😞

It would be good if it could be repurposed. It would be a pity to lose it.
Cierzo · M
Agree. Some other stations in this railway line have been turned into small hotels.

@Cierzo: good idea.👍
