I Think Our Subconscious Is Powerful

Tinnitus (Ringing in the Ears)

Tinnitus is the perception of noise or ringing in the ears.
Tinnitus affects 1 in 5 people.

After a bit of research, I have found that the causes of Tinnitus consist of certain conditions, diseases, disorders, and medications.

After finding the causes of Tinnitus, a question arose.

Why/How does a healthy (condition, disease, disorder, medication FREE) human being get Tinnitus? The cause goes unanswered.

My husband and I were getting our children ready for school this morning. It was Crazy Hat Day at school, so we were digging around and pulling beds away from the walls looking for one of the boy’s favorite hats.

I had given up and went into the kitchen to finish the dishes that I had started earlier. As my husband continued to look for the missing hat, he suggested that we should check in our 2 year olds room.

He was still sleeping and the chance of it being in there was almost out of the question. So I had stated, “it’s not in there”. Seconds after making this statement, I suddenly had the loudest ringing in my ears and my subconscious telling me that it was IN FACT in my 2 year olds room.

I blurted out, “It’s in Ian’s room”…

We had opened the door (not wanting to wake Ian up), and sure enough…there it was.

Theory

I believe it’s possible, that Tinnitus can be a signal from our subconscious minds.

What do you think?

(My subconscious mind was telling me the hat was in Ian's room.)
(My conscious mind was telling me that the hat was in the car.)

I didn't suddenly remember it being in there. I had no memory of the hat being in there at all. I even felt a little doubt when making the statement and opening the door.

The path is brain stem/thalamus/Auditory Cortex; but that is for physical signals from the ear.
But where it gets weird is: you can imagine sound that is not coming in your ears, like when you dream, or recall a song.
So you can experience audio where none is being generated. Same with images.

So now we are discussing the interface between the brain and the concious mind.
That's barely-charted territory!

It seems an odd though plausible mechanism for communication between the unconscious and concious mind.

Tinnitus is caused by "recruitment" which is the brain raising its sensitivity to missing frequencies from the ear's auditory nerve.
The ringing does not come from the ear itself.

Do you know where in the brain, that this nerve/signal originates from?

Just thought that it would be interesting to know.

I have mid level tinnitus but that's because I listen to loud music

You have a cause, though! I do believe that it's possible that loud music can interfere with the vibrations of the subconscious mind.
