I Want Real Connections

I remember several times in my life where I met people online or offline and we made a connection. We’ll meet someone who gets us, who we can converse with naturally, who easily makes us open up to them. It’s easy when you talk to a stranger or a person you won’t see again. It’s difficult to be yourself with people who know more about you than a stranger or acquaintance would because you’re afraid they’ll see you as a monster after they learn of your flaws, weaknesses, and mistakes. But when you reveal your authentic self, whoever sticks around in spite of your “darkness” is worth your time.

That's mostly true... I can't seem to connect with anyone though. I am certain it must be something I am doing wrong or some deficiency within me. It has recently been suggested to me, "...continuously pretending to be something you're not is not being true to yourself and will keep you feeling empty." Well, I do feel empty (and hopelessly unconnected)...
