I Observe People And Their Behavior
Observation Only... Psychology and human behavior has always fascinated me. I read all my dad's psychology textbooks before entering high-school, and watching people was a personal hobby of mine. Sometimes I would even take notes and look for patterns.
Despite my knowledge of human behavior, I never intervene - I have no right to. I can only observe. I do not judge or comment on their behavior - I have no right to. I am also human and cannot delude myself into thinking that human behavioral patterns don't apply to me. So I observe.
Sometimes I see multiple people repeating the same mistake, and it bothers me... especially when it is one of my friends making the mistake. I can give advice, but only when asked. I am not presumptuous enough to think that I have all the answers.
It crushes me to see my friends making these mistakes, knowing that there is nothing I can do about it. I have intervened once or twice before, but it always had terrible consequences. So I vowed not to intervene again. It is not my life, nor my decisions, so I don't get to decide. I can only advise and observe.
As much as I would like to, I cannot protect those I love from everything. They have to live their own lives and make their own decisions... and if they fall, I can only be supportive and hope they learn from their mistakes.
