I Do Intermittent Fasting

oh my gooosh I need help! When I am fasting I am very alert and awake. This is a problem as I fast at night so it badly affects my sleep. I really do not want to eat at night because of all the health negatives.

So anyways my sleep is all messed up and then in the morning about 1 hour or so after I eat I am hit with a MASSIVE wave of sleepiness and cannot get anything done and pass out literally all day.

I am not functional this way!

I don't know what to do 馃槥 I am doing 14:10 fasting.

You probably won't need a full stomach to help sleep, it's mostly the salt and sugar that dispel insomnia. Even a couple slices of bread will likely make the difference. If the rigors of your diet absolutely forbid even that much, it may be time to consider slightly modifying the program so that it's not obviously fucking up your life in other ways.

@Keraunos OK that sounds reasonable but how do I prevent the crash at the end of the fast?

@Ananke I kind of interpreted your issues with daytime sleepiness as being largely the implied result of not sleeping properly at night. It's actually a separate problem in its own right, then?

@Keraunos I guess I could sort out my night time sleep first and then see if it changes any. I'm also so hungry at the end of my fast I tend to overeat or want to overeat :/ I have been counting my calories in an attempt to prevent this. Just to make sure I don't eat over 2000 in my eating window.

@Ananke While I would not describe myself as well-informed about the specific dieting strategy you're attempting, from an observer's perspective, it does not sound like it's working out for you as advertised. Is it supposed to kind of be a terrible-feeling experience like this, but people just bear with it for expected returns in weight loss or whatever its objective is?

@Keraunos Mainly I want to stop eating at night. My doctor actually recommended IF to me to treat my insulin resistance. I'm just having a lot of trouble with it....but I've lost more weight this way than I have any other way so far.
