Shooters do you have a preferred set up?

My brother and I were talking pistols. I preferred the shield over glock

I carry a G23 (.40) because its concealable, fits my hand well, and I am very accurate with it. My most accurate Glock is the G21 in .45. I had the grip modified so its easier to handle and the sights replaced as well as the trigger. But it's too big and heavy to carry. We have other handguns of many different manufacturers , but glock is the only one you can drop in the mud , pick it up and it will continue to function, no matter what. Kimbers and HKs tend to jam after the next shot . Yep I did the mud test. I need a gun that is accurate and dependable.

For target shooting my Glock 41 tops the list but I'm addicted to .45 ACP handguns. Wasted money on my Kimber even though it isn't junk but has jammed a few times. I actually like my Springfield Armory 1911 the best. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. My carry piece is a Colt Defender, over priced but effective.

Shoot what you like, that's what I do....last week I was hitting 8" targets @ 100 yards with my TC Contender chambered for 7x30 Waters, handloads.

When I used to conceal carry in Las Vegas years ago, I had a second generation Taurus PT92 9mm with aftermarket adjustable sights in a belt pack.

@NativeOregonian I'll admit I had to Google that 1, doesn't seem so dissimilar to a Beretta 92fs. I would think that was a little large for concealed

@Powderflask I like the frame mounted safety better than on slides, and in a fanny belt pack, no worry of it printing. Beretta and S&W partnered up and set up the Taurus factory in Brazil in the 70's, which is why it looks so similar.

@Powderflask The second generation is pre decocker, and they are now in the fourth generation, which has an under frame rail for lights and laser sights, which I think makes them look ugly.

No preference

@Powderflask I agree. Lots of my friends love M&P. If it’s good in your hand it’s perfect !

@Powderflask My preference in sights is not found very often. I carried a SigSauer P220 for a number of years at work and it had a white square under a round white dot profile. Faster then a 3 dot, no chance of a cross fire and more precise of a sight picture. When we went to tritium they were all 3 dots. I still prefer the 2 sights stacked on top of each other but no one makes them.

For most applications, in good light, plain black sights are fine. The dot systems come into their own during twilight and dim light situations and the tritium in total darkness.

What is important is to find a system that is reliable, works for you, and that you can carry all day every day. The pistol you left in the car or in the safe will do you no good at all.

@bowman81 I'm visually challenged to say the least, I don't do black sights

Colt 1911 for the house.
HK P7 m8 for casual carry
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@SW-User very nice, but I'll admit I wouldn't pay for .45

@Powderflask if I need to confront someone in my home.. I want a one shot stop.. at close range, ten to fifteen feet the 1911 will knock you right down..
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@SW-User not disagreeing with that. My preference for in home is a shotgun tho
bowman81 · M
I carried a Glock for years at work, had to. I carry a Shield 40 every day by choice.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
I'm a big HK fan. Although I also love any 10mm which HK doesn't have with their VP range
Powderflask · 31-35, M
@basilfawlty89 nice, I'll admit I have never shot a 10mm
