Shooters do you have a preferred set up?

My brother and I were talking pistols. I preferred the shield over glock

I carry a G23 (.40) because its concealable, fits my hand well, and I am very accurate with it. My most accurate Glock is the G21 in .45. I had the grip modified so its easier to handle and the sights replaced as well as the trigger. But it's too big and heavy to carry. We have other handguns of many different manufacturers , but glock is the only one you can drop in the mud , pick it up and it will continue to function, no matter what. Kimbers and HKs tend to jam after the next shot . Yep I did the mud test. I need a gun that is accurate and dependable.

@TexChik Not a fan of Glock because of how it recoils back instead of up, always feels like it's going to break my wrist.

@NativeOregonian Thats precisely why I like them...Low muzzle jump and getting back on target more easily, Doesn't matter what you carry as long as you are competent with it. another reason I like glock is that there are so many aftermarket mods available for them, just like the Remington 700 action in rifles.

@TexChik Exactly, shoot what you like and are capable with.

@TexChik not disagreeing, I just never cared about that as I have never randomly dropped a pistol in mud
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@Powderflask If you live on a ranch/farm, or a rainy area, it could be a very important factor.

@Powderflask in a gunfight , since I’m not a professional with battle experience ... I try to imagine worst case scenarios . And I just won’t carry a gun that will jam if it’s dirty .

@NativeOregonian yep we have a farm , I hunt , and I carry . If you carry stuff is going to find its way into your weapon

@NativeOregonian my family does have a ranch but my "field gun" of choice is my 870. A 3 inch barreled 9mm is not a predator gun
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik I always shot tight ten rings with my Taurus PT92 9mm. When I lived in Vegas I shot off a 100box of 115gr military ball in the desert every weekend.
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik Most definitely will, firearms seem to attract all sorts of debris.

@NativeOregonian I shoot every Friday when I’m home at the indoor range . At the farm we have a box canyon where I can shoot anything . We have reactive steel targets , platforms for bottles and a cable suspended across the canyon to hang swinging stuff on . With all the rain this year , water melons are growing everywhere . We shot a lot of those down there last summer and now the seeds have germinated .
I wana shoot a gun at watermelons
TexChik · F
@TryingtoLava can you shoot?
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik That sounds like a really nice set up, and get those little green buggers, splat their rinds everywhere LOL
TexChik · F
@NativeOregonian we have a .50 AE. A 300 grain HP really makes a mess
@TexChik sorta! I cant have kick thou or i hurt myself
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik Desert Eagle? I always wanted to shoot one.
TexChik · F
@NativeOregonian it’s hard for me to grip ... it definitely has muzzle jump . The .44 mag is nothing after firing the .50
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik I held one once in my early 20's and was huge in my hands too. I can imagine that.
TexChik · F
@NativeOregonian We have a set . .357, .44, .50AE

Hubby was a freak for them so I gifted him them over a couple years
NativeOregonian · 51-55
@TexChik That is too cool.
