What's the unquestionable proof that someone loves you?

I think that if someone truly loves me, then he/she would care about the people and things and animals that I care about. And that he/she would respect those most important to me and will protect what I would give my life to protect.

It's a simple determining factor. But somehow, I realized that failing it makes me question one's motive for getting close with me. Because to be honest, if I love someone, then I like to think I'd care about these things about him/her too. Or at least, that's what I hope.
For me it's not the words, but with consistent action. He always put me ahead of himself. Would sacrifice all in order to give me anything I wanted. If I asked for the moon, no questions, that crazy man would try and figure out a way. When he looks at me, I see myself through his eyes and I'm beautiful. Next month we will have been married for 30 years, together since we were 15. How I was sure he loved me at that point? He let me go, it broke his heart, but he knew I needed to spread my wings and experience life without him because we got together so young. We were apart for a few years, enough time for me to build another life. We married a few years after we got back together.

Two qualities for a good relationship, I think, is loyalty and respect. So I would consider proof of some ones love for me is if they would lie to protect me.

@Dainbramadge I think I understand but I'm not sure if we're talking in the same context. Because for example, someone committed a crime. Then I wouldn't say it's always love to lie for them. Is this what you have in mind or something else?

@Casheyane No I think that. I guess depending on the crime. If they would be stealing stuff I don't know if I would because that would disturb my thoughts of respect. Respect for themselves and me. But, if the crime was beating some jerks ass for being a disrespectful ass and they lie to the cops saying you didn't do it. I feel that is love.

@Dainbramadge Ahh, then yes :) Reminds me if the marauders in harry potter. They all turned to animals to help their werewolf friend. It's sweet.

Love is not an easy thing. Many who come close to you doesn't love you, they're just coating or they are not fully in to you.
Casheyane · F
@sandrides I have to say I agree to that. Sad fact but true. Is it the same for you?

There really is no such thing as unquestionable proof when it comes to being loved and although "common ground" is a lovely thing, you'd be cutting off your nose to spite your face if you rule people out simply because they don't think/feel the same way you do. Everyone "loves" in their own way.

I think Oscar Wilde said it best, "Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live."
