What does it mean when....

Someone says 'You have been very tentative when you talk to me lately.'
SW-User
I would take it to mean that they feel you're holding back.

They sense a hesitation on your part
I would take it to mean the speaker thought you sounded more definite and sure before and less so now - although it's always better to ask the person who said it. Why didn't you?

@Mamapolo2016 this person is toxic - playing mind games. they should be avoided, not embraced.
Do you know more about this post than I do?@tenente

You are unsure if you wish to maintain the friendship. Tentative means it's not solid, or fixed.

sounds like a mind fuck - do you know this person well?
Jenni855 · 36-40, F
@tenente Used to be friends but they hurt me badly when they distanced themselves at a time when I really needed their support. Felt their apology was insincere and that they are keeping a big secret from me and so things are still strained with us. I have kept a distance but been polite at the same time.

@Jenni855 it's a passive aggressive intimidation tactic - they want you to feel insecure, and, take a powerful position over you.
