What the hell is wrong with this picture?

So tomorrow is one of my students birthday, so her mom decided to come in today to pass out treats.I wanted to read a story and go over vocabulary words with the students so I got the kids in order then a few minutes later a few students were out of hand.I gave orders to those students in order for them to listen. The paraprofessional stated something close to "I can't see how you can read with them acting like this etc." Then I stated "I need a little support." So the mother of the birthday girl took it upon herself to sit on the carpet with the kids. Then here goes the teacher..a few inches away from me loud on the phone(mind you she is 65 years old and seems to have a hearing issue)...I tapped her and she put up her index finger up(the mom saw this and she didn't say a word).Going back to early in the morning, the paraprofessional was reading and the teacher was on the phone but around that time she stepped out.(So when I was reading my story why didn't the teacher step out as well?) Now while I was reading some more the teacher and the paraprofessional was having a conversation. The students mother and I was looking at them and they just kept on going then stopped. In the end I thanked the mother for her help when the paraprofessional or the teacher should have been the one helping me after I stated "I need a little support." I guess the only help the paraprofessional thought would work is to yell at the kids that were acting up.

Also not to fail to mention that when I am not busy or occupied I usually sit a few inches behind the students making sure that everyone is paying attention to the paraprofessional or teacher while they read....

I think the paraprofessional was "kind" of busy at the time but the teacher was on the phone don't know if the call was important or not even if it was I felt like she could of stepped out and once she was done she could of sat with the students to make sure they are behaving.

Now please tell me what the hell is wrong with this picture?

I know that at times I may have a little trouble with getting some students in order even when I try to explain to them over and over again that when it comes to learning you have to behave and listen because not only will you miss out on something new...you are also disturbing other students who want to learn.I also speak with the parents as well and also take away play time from students who misbehave just that some still choose to misbehave.I was thinking of letting the paraprofessional do my read alouds since she is a bit more stricter and the kids listen to her more.

Sounds like a lot of disrespect towards you. I'm sorry you had to endure this.

@GraceFromEP: Sorry if what I typed is a lot.Thank you for taking the time to read what was on my mind other than just stating "Be more concise." "Too...long...can't...read...." or "Wtf? I ain't reading all that.

But yes that is exactly it! Too much disrespect.Even the paraprofessional disrespect the teacher at times.I even notice that the teacher would talk to certain people that is more soft spoken in a rude way but those with a backbone like the paraprofessional she makes sure she don't rub her the wrong way.
