UPS : Automated emails say I start tomorrow (Nov 2),

I just got hired as a UPS Driver Helper.

I keep getting automated onboarding emails telling me my start date is tomorrow, Monday, Nov 2nd.
However, I texted the local manager yesterday and Friday, and he explicitly told me not to come in tomorrow because they aren't using helpers until mid-November.

My mom is stressing about rent, so there's pressure to push the issue, but I don't want to annoy the manager before I even start. Should I trust the manager's text over the automated corporate emails?

Has anyone else experienced this delay?

Sounds like they are ramping up for Christmas. I hope next spring they do not let you go!
@JoyfulSilence I would assume that position is automatically a seasonal position, but I could be totally wrong, that being said, it potential could always lead to more if there are openings elsewhere and one applies for them.
I don't know where along the process you are...

But I would listen to the manager especially if you have it in writing from them.

That being said, is there an HR person that you can talk with, to confirm that you have completed all the HR procedures?

Such as filling out the W-4 form (Employee's Withholding Certificate)? And all the other HR stuff?

Which I assume would include a training date and location.

And I assume most employers make you watch some sort of employee videos.
@sstronaut I filled out everything just waiting to start.

Don’t trust automated email.
