people don't realize how useful it is to carry a multitool around on your belt and if they did everyone would have one

(Not a fucking knife either, a multitool, pliers with little bladed attachments.

I see lots of dudes thinking that a knife is better but this has more to do with some action hero fantasy they have than the reality of what is actually useful.)

I tried carrying around just a knife and I just never have had any need for that shit. It's stupid.

I need pliers and I need something that can cut like scissors. I need to be able to pry things in a way my hand can't. I need to measure with a straight edge. I need to open a bottled drink and yea every once in a while I need to cut something but I don't want to pull out a machete to do that because its stupid and dangerous. I need something more like a razor.

This is all a multitool.

When I was in the army I used to carry it with me EVERYWHERE and people with knives would ask to borrow it all the time because they realized that their surrogate penis (aka knife) wasn't going to ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING USEFUL.

If you just attach this to your keychain or belt for a month I promise you, it will start becoming like a 3rd hand to you.

In fact it often happens when I am just wandering around in the world I will almost instinctually reach for my multitool when I need manipulate something. It becomes as habitual as reaching for your phone when you have an idea. You will even start thinking about problems differently because you will develop an instinct that something needs to be pryed or twisted somehow. Normally people do not think this way because that requires looking for tools but when the tool is just in your pocket it changes your intuitions because you can immediately experiment.

People don't know what they are missing.

I have about 5 of these. Also over time they have become somewhat of a legendary item. Each one has a story attached to it. There was the time I used it for this or that event. Every scratch becomes a memory like a worn leather jacket.

Nobody will read this post, which is basically gold lying on the sidewalk and they will continue to wonder why they are so unsatisfied with their life. If only they had had a multitool things would be a little less bleak. 🤷‍♂

You say that in your day to day life you need pliers, scissors, a tape measure, a razor and something to pry things open with.

What are you a Superhero named , TOOLMAN!
Fighting crime with his Leatherman of justice??
And you have five of those?
@TheHammer you think you dont need these things but I am telling you, once you start having them with you on your person all the time, you will wonder how you ever lived without them, you will think differently about everything you encounter

I used to think like you, then I learned

I carry a knife and a 550 cord bracelet.
That's always been enough. But I hear you. I have a Leatherman knock off. I'll try it.

When I grew up it was standard for men to carry a pocket knife of some kind; these days it would probably get you arrested.
My son in law tells me the same thing.
I still don’t have one.

Might be a fool.
@nonsensiclesnail but I mean you kind of walk around carrying around your whole house in your shell tho
@nonsensiclesnail sometimes maybe you disappear and there's some noises, some pans banging, maybe a basketball rolls out of your shell, even maybe a cat yowls, and then your shell is shaking a bit, then you come out and have exactly what you were looking for!
@unsociableAnthony I try not to brag, but yes. Still, no multitool ready to grab in any occasion.
