I just finished the worst project ever.
It was a project that was assigned to my company like a year ago, for which the client sent us horrible data time and time again and had to provide numerous corrections. It was previously worked on by a coworker who retired, and before that, by a company that my company acquired. The client was pissed that we took so long, and a coworker of mine kept following up with me every single day to see when it would be done. I worked on it on the weekend. I felt my heart beating out of my chest from the anxiety.
These kinds of things are only going to get worse as workload worsens. My team has shrunk and our clients list grows and grows. They're going to make us convert at least some of the clients to a new software, and that's going to be another giant task on our plates. Things are going to get turned in later and later and clients are going to start dropping us. When that happens, I just hope the CEO can see why it's happening. I hope I'm not next on the chopping block.
