I finished some medical work. Got cleaned and sat in the waiting room.

A young lady I used to teach was with her parents , came to say hi calling me professor. It makes me feel weird.

I think I am going to start asking my students to call me Miram or Sarah instead.

The titles feel so formal.

I don't mind being called a Dr at work..same for teacher during teaching, but outside formal settings I just want to be Miram.

Miram is tired.

You get used to it. It does seem weird at first.

I coached kids hockey for 16 years. I retired from that life 3 years ago.

Whenever I go to the rink there always seems to be an old payer or 2 kicking around.
Same thing with a lot of places I go like the supermarket or a park. It even happened at the Aquarium last weekend.
A lot of them are in their mid 20’s with some being into their 30s now.
They always greet me as Coach and it just seems normal now. Same thing with many of the parents too.

You’ve earned the title and for a lot of them that’s just who you are now.

You’ll learn to accept it in time, Professor.

Be well.

Professor Miram does have a nice ring to it, for me at least. But kidding aside may you rest up now.
