A year. What already?

Just met my boss "Happy New Year" and all that. He says "Congratulations on your first anniversary here".

Which it is. Well that year disappeared in a flying moment! Now will I make a second anniversary here? Not a point I raised with him 🤣🤣🤣

@Celt50 I'd have to work into my 70s to get that 🤣🤣🤣

You're not happy with the current situation?
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
@ineedadrink just the sector I'm in in the UK (universities) is not being prioritized. Most are hanging on hoping they'll not go broke before others do.

I'm lucky I work for one of the big ones. But others I've worked for look doomed or being merged etc.

Plus AI will do my job in less than 5 years.

@KatyO83 If AI does as many jobs as people seem to think who will be earning enough money to buy the products and services that the AI provides?
KatyO83 · 41-45, F
@ninalanyon there in lies the challenge of the next couple of decades. A continuation of the mega rich 1% becoming the mega rich 0.01% and everyone else in poverty? Or do we somehow redistribute that?

I don't know the answer but many jobs people have seen as safe, good earning jobs will I think go. A lot of admin type roles like mine will simply be done by ai, much quicker, cheaper, 24x7 etc etc. Easily scalable during peak times rather than training up staff then letting them go etc

We already use it in my processes and each year it'll increase the amount it does.
