My time isn't infinite and interchangeable. And no one is entitled to it.

Same for my own space.

It seems like I have to often remind people of that fact.

If there were fair ways to charge people for simply making appointments, I would do that.

I worked most of the night and accidentally spilled my breakfast drink on my clothes because of being rushed, still showed up on time to honor appointments, rearranging my morning for other people who had committed to 8 o’clock. When they arrived thirty minutes late, I already gave the slot to someone who was there waiting for a colleague who also was late.

People here, both patients and staff, don't seem to understand that time, once broken, cannot be repaired by arrival alone. It is a cultural problem which they seem to think it can get softened by excuses. And it is irritating to no end.

I am entitled to my own time. If you want something from me, you are taking from MY time. Same for my space.

And if that makes me a stuck up bish, so be it.

Sadly, many people are very inconsiderate.

I one arranged to meet a friend in a particular coffee-shop I'd not previously used, a short bus-ride away in the town-centre.

I was there on time, even a little early. I stayed an hour, reading the paper and doing the crossword - I did have two drinks and some cake in that time - without him appearing.

I sort of forgave him because although he does not suffer from dementia he does have a weak memory and had genuinely forgotten, but I was not amused at the wasted afternoon.

Especially as the pretentiously-named coffee beverage was barely an eggful in a small glass, costing well over £3 and card-only payment.

I believe it was the Duke of Wellington who reportedly told his officers to be prompt and punctual with meetings with him, saying, "If you are late you waste my time. If you are early you waste yours."
