My time isn't infinite and interchangeable. And no one is entitled to it.

Same for my own space.

It seems like I have to often remind people of that fact.

If there were fair ways to charge people for simply making appointments, I would do that.

I worked most of the night and accidentally spilled my breakfast drink on my clothes because of being rushed, still showed up on time to honor appointments, rearranging my morning for other people who had committed to 8 o’clock. When they arrived thirty minutes late, I already gave the slot to someone who was there waiting for a colleague who also was late.

People here, both patients and staff, don't seem to understand that time, once broken, cannot be repaired by arrival alone. It is a cultural problem which they seem to think it can get softened by excuses. And it is irritating to no end.

I am entitled to my own time. If you want something from me, you are taking from MY time. Same for my space.

And if that makes me a stuck up bish, so be it.

I have a friend who is always late. One time we arranged to go somewhere. At the appointed time he did not arrive.

I am always early. I was ready to go 40 minutes before the meeting time.

I waited for an hour before giving him a call to ask where he was. He told me he needed to read his gaming magazines ... seriously.

It wasn't the first time something like this has happened.

Like you, I reminded him that he was not entitled to waste my time. I was not so polite, he makes sure to phone any time he is going to be late.
